Hi there,
I recently upgraded to two new Samsung BX2450 monitors.

One of them is perfect but the other has a slight colour issue.

The one with the problem has a blue/purple like tint, which isn't drastic but it's noticable for myself doing graphic design.

It's really annoying for whites especially, it just doesn't look great...

I've heard of some blue tinges with LED monitors but the other one I bought is perfect and has really great colours?

So should I RMA the blue tinge one or despite being identical monitors, is it common to play around to get them to match in colour?

I've put them both to the same settings obviously but the suspected faulty one doesn't look as good as the other one I have.

I really would appreciate some light on this situation because I'm considering returning it for replacement otherwise.

Monitors of the same make and model have slight manufacturing variations which means the exact same settings do not work for all the monitors.

As for bluish LED (a.k.a. W-LED) it is caused by the use of blue LEDs with yellow phosphorous coating to imitate white. Even a replacement still has a decent chance of having bluish colors.

Traditional CCFL (florescent) backlit monitors are still better for color accuracy.

In other words, you don't think my other one is broken in any way?

I just spoke to Samsung who told me it's a fault if the other one is fine and I am eligible for replacement within 14 days.

To me it is fine because LED backlight tends to be slightly bluish because they have 68% color gamut which means the color space is slightly shifted into the blue spectrum.

If Samsung is willing to replace it, then go for it. But I think there's a decent chance (~25%) that the next monitor will have thew same "issue".

The only reason I feel inclined to replace it is because the other monitor is supurb. Why would they manufacture something that isn't a consistent quality? That means some people would get shitty ones and others get great looking ones.

I'm really not sure whether to send for a replacement or not. I can't seem to match the second one to a satisfaction. Webpages that use blue, the blues are completely different and all other colours really look like a different shade too.

I ended up sending them back (both) because the second one had about 4 dead pixels and yeah, the other with the tinge issue.

I'll be getting a refund issued shortly, then I'll take a look at some other monitors.

Thanks though!
