I have been using an LG BD Writer. I had my LG GGW-H20L for 3 years now. Its very reliable. I can't comment on other brands. There is no reason for me to try another brand. I probably go for another LG.

I have a notebook (HP) with BD ROM drive... The BD feature of the drive is dead after 2 years. Not good at all.


For the BD media use the branded ones. They are expensive but the data that is save is more expensive. I have not lost data on any of my BD media.

I have a big archive of DVD and BD recorded discs. My storage has no direct sun-light on it. So far no media related data lost.
