Bluetooth adapter to replace one on motherboard

I recently built a gaming rig for my brother and he uses a bluetooth keyboard so for his rig i got him a motherboard with built in wifi and bluetooth but after a day the blutooth drivers just stopped working and I have look everywereand nothing has worked so I was wondering if this would work or I would still get driver issues.

You can get USB BT adapter for close to nothing, but I suspect the problem is not in the hardware.
Boot some live LinuxCD (or make fresh Windows install on separate partition / disk) and make sure it is really the adapter and not some software configuration.

its not the adapter on the motherboard it is a driver issue that I could not find a fix for. All I was asking if using a usb bt adapter would work and if I will get the same driver issues when using that. Sorry that I could not explain my situation better.
