Bluetooth for tv

I have a Bluetooth capability tv. My question is when pared to Bluetooth headphones will it mute the tv’s speaker system? I’m trying to watch tv and not disturb my wife while sleeping.

I can’t seem to find the answer to my question which I received a notification that an answer had been provided. I’ve checked my inbox and find no response via inbox ? Newbe at this please help
