[SOLVED] Bluetooth Headphones Lose Sound After Any Silence

I recently bought some cheap PowerLocus Bluetooth headphones and whilst generally they seem OK, they seem to have an annoying habit of cutting out and missing sound if there is any period of silence.

What I mean by this, for example, is that if I'm playing a game and say there is a silent loading screen, once the game has loaded, it won't pick up the first 3-5 seconds of sound but will then kick back in. It's like any period of silence in terms of audio output puts them to sleep briefly, and it's very irritating.

This is on a Windows 10 PC. Is it likely that the headphones are just rubbish or could it be the PC?

Open up the Control Panel Device Manager and check the Properties for whatever device your headphones are connected to. Look at the tab for Power Management and make sure that the option to Allow the computer to turn off this device is NOT checked. These power saving options can turn your headphones off when they think they're not being used.

It is likely those things have a bad power management setting where it's too aggressive and not fast enough to turn on after it does not get a signal. Did you contact the vendor or read some reviews of the product on Amazon or wherever you bought them? Very likely others that use them have found the same issue.

Unfortunately none of the Bluetooth settings and connected devices in control panel have the Power Management tab.

Strange that they would so quickly lose signal, though. It's literally anything over about 4 or 5 seconds of silence and they go to sleep, before taking another 4 or 5 seconds to come back on and pick up the sound once it's going again. I've contacted the seller now but not response yet.

Last resort, open the Control Panel Power Options app and check to ensure every option is set for Maximum Performance. Also, if you connect them to a different device like a phone, does the same thing happen indicating its the headphones more than windows? And if you connect to your pc using the cable option, does the same thing happen indicating its the headphones rather than bluetooth?
