Anyone heard about ASUS upgrading the BIOS's with bluetooth support. I have
a K8N but the bluetooth keyboard and mouse do not work until I get to the
password prompt on XP.

You need to change the legacy USB Keyboard setting in the BIOS to be
controlled by the BIOS rather then then OS.

With is set on the OS you won't get control of the keyboard/mouse until
the OS has loaded the relevent drivers.

I use the Logitech Bluetooth DiNovo media keyboard and mouse myself, I
also have the Asus K8N-E Deluxe and you shouldn't need to upgrade the
BIOS to support it.

If you can't get it to work let me know and I'll try and get a
screenshot of the relevent BIOS setting for you.

I have the Plug and play OS set to know. Have all the other settings set
correctly. Got ahold of ASUS and they were the ones that said future
bluetooth supt. would be in the form of a bios update. Seemed a generic
response from the cs guy and not really sure I believed him. Anyway go ahead
and post a pic and I try and figure it out again.. THX

Strange.... What make of keyboard is it? It could be that you've got a
bluetooth keyboard which doesn't emulate PS/2 keyboard/mouse protocols
without drivers loaded.

The DiNovo keyboard/mouse I have work without installing any drivers at
all, the only thing that doesn't work without drivers are the media keys.

Have you tried plugging the blueooth hub into different USB ports and
checking the results in the BIOS screen?

Looking around on the web, I've seen lots of mentions of the Desktop
Elite keyboard/mouse set for Bluetooth and a lot of people seem to be
saying that they can't get the keyboard to work until Windows has loaded.

It appears that Microsoft have just updated the set to V2 and from what
I can find, people have had more success using the V2 release of the
keyboard/mouse in navigating the BIOS/DOS etc.

Reviews from NewEgg in the US

Reviews from Amazon.co.uk

This would seem to suggest that Microsoft updated the hardware in the V2
release to allow a PC to utilise any bluetooth devices attached to the
USB Bluetooth dongle.

On the face of it I think you have three options;

1. Live with it
2. Return the V1 keyboard/mouse set and get a V2 set
3. Return the V1 keyboard/mouse set and buy a set that is known to work
in the BIOS.
4. Try a different Bluetooth Dongle as it might be the bluetooth dongle
itself that stops the BIOS from seeing/talking to the keyboard.

The logitech sets listed below both work in the BIOS;

The Logitech Cordless Desktop MX for Bluetooth

The Logitech diNovo Media Desktop 2.0, which is what I've got and does
indeed work in the BIOS.

Have fun and hope you get something sorted out soon,
