Hi,

I have connected my laptop via HDMI to a monitor to use for an extended display. Everything on that monitor looks very blurry even though the resolution is set to 1920X1080. I've tried searching for answers but I can't find anything.. Help!?

Laptop info if needed:
Alienware 17 R2
Quad core i7
16GB RAM
1TB HDD
128GB SSD
Windows 10

Hi,

Here are some troubleshooting steps that may help in solving the issue.
- Start by changing the resolution to a higher one same goes with the refresh rate of the screen.
- If these will not work, try a different HDMI cable or a different monitor.
- If using a different cable and monitor will result to the same problem, do a clean install of the graphics card driver.
- Go to Device Manager and uninstall the Nvidia graphics driver.
- Next is to open Programs and Features then uninstall anything related to Nvidia.
- Once done, download and install the latest driver.
- Here's the link: nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx
- Reboot the laptop once the latest driver has been installed.
- Do also set Nvidia as the default GPU then test it again.

Thanks for your answer. It works fine with a different monitor (my newer tv)...

How do i set nvidia to default GPU? I can't adjust many settings in nvidia control panel, only the intel one. I set 3d settings defaul to nvidia and tried setting phsy x to nvidia but it doesn't do anything.
