board slot is way longer than card

I tried to replace old GT 340 with EVGA GT 710 and found out the slot on board is way longer. Did I buy the wrong one?

Its Gateway DX4831. I searched the web and it is called MBGAJ09001

Yes, evga made it smaller but it is still PCI-E 2.0, just put it in the same slot and it should work even though i have no CLUE why anyone would buy a 710....
