so Im having some problems with my memory i recently just bought.
I have:
2x G.SKILL Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-1600C9D-8GAO
2x Ballistix Sport 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model BLS2KIT4G3D1609DS1S00
motherboard:
ASRock Z75 Pro3
cpu: Intel core I7 3770
cooler:
Noctua U-14
storage:
1x Samsung 850 evo SSD 250gb
1x WD Blue 1 tb 7200 rpm HDD
PSU:
700 watt
I recently upgraded my system from a 8 gb kit to a 16 gb after i bought the 8gb kit gskill ram and installed it just fine (made sure that the ram was secure and that the cpu cooler wasnt too tight for on the cpu.
when I tried loading into the bios it showed that only half of my ram was being detected which was
showing only two ram dimms at 1600Mhz being used and the rest was set to auto in the ram config by default.
It showed that my BIOS has all the memory installed but doesn't display all of it
I went to check windows and opened task manager and it only shows that two slots were being used. I went to msconfig to see if the maximum memory was ticked but it wasnt
I turned off my computer and repositioned the ram to see if that helps but again i checked the bios and still shows that half the ram was being displayed
then i tried to manually change the timings and set it to 9-9-9-24 on xmp 3.1 in the bios and still nothing
Im guessing that these two brands aren't compatible with one another even though they have the same frequency and timings after i checked on their websites and even the labels on the ram.
