So I recently bought a new laptop that comes with a Nvidia GT 840M 2GB graphics card, and an Intel I5-4210U processor clocked at 1.7ghz. In the product description for the I5-4210U, it says that it can be boosted to 2.7 ghz for better performance. Does anyone know how to do this?

Thanks,

You are referring to a function called Intel Turbo Boost 2.0. You don't have to do anything. The processor itself is intelligent enough to understand when to boost itself to 2.7 GHz and it will do so whenever it is needed.

The Intel Turbo Boost technology is automatically on so there is nothing you have to do to enable it. I assume you are asking this because you haven't seen it turn on and that is probably because it works when only half of the cores are turned on. Basically on a dual core CPU it turns on only when just one core is turned on which is almost never, probably less then 5% of the time. This technology basically makes sense only on CPUs with 4 or more cores because basically everything today is made to be ran on two cores.
