Discussion Boot camp Windows 7, or Windows 8.1?

Hey all, so I have the new 15" Macbook Pro. I need to load Windows on it just for ease of compatibility, going to bootcamp it but I wanted to know what you guys thought would be a better fit as far as best for use on Mac, and best as far as compatibility with older windows programs. But the OS also needs to be compatible with future programs (which is why I am even considering Windows 8). So what do you guys think, Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1 for the mac?

Your use to apple products win 8 or 8.1 might feel right to you but I would use 7 myself but I dont know what all your intending on doing other then ease of use.
