Hi. I finally managed to get another supply and boot up to check if my components were working, but, now when i turn the motherboard on it cycles through all the post leds and then stays with the boot device led turned on, and i get no image in the monitor, but my mouse and keyboard turn on. Also the motherboard on-state leds turn on and the fans start spinning.

I have a HDD connected in the "boot drive" labeled sata connector in the motherboard.

I tried with 1 ram stick (i have 2) in the a2 slot and b2 slot separately, and with both at the same time.

Everything is connected correctly. I only connected the 24-pin motherboard connector and the 8-pin cpu connector.

I tried removing the cmos battery for 15 minutes with the pc turned completely off.

No usb stick is connected. Only connected devices are the mouse and keyboard (in the usb 3.0 slots) and the dvi-i for my monitor.

The first time when i booted the motherboard without an HDD the speaker made some beep (sounds), but after i connected the HDD i had no more beeps when booting it up.

Nothing of the above worked. It still stays with the red "boot device" led on, and without displaying image.

My motherboard is a z170-a from asus. (16gb (8x2) of crusial ballistix 2666 mhz ram, i5 6600k, 212 evo cooler.)

If you have no OS installed then you would receive a Post or MB warning, Unless of coarse there is also a hardware or cable connection issue.

You should be able to access Bios by continually depressing the DELETE key during Post.
Once in Bios you will have to set boot priority to your installation media so you can install your OS.

If no image to Monitor then check cables and connections and test the monitor in another system in case that is a problem. Do you have a HDMI cable to connect with and try.? your MB certainly does but does your monitor.?

You may have to reset your CMOS back to default or Update your Bios.

Monitor works, i tested it with another pc.
I tried to access the bios with the delete key, but like i told you, no image. I also checked all the cables to see if they were correctly connected.
I can try with an ssd i have from another pc, that has windows installed (though, i dont know what will happen when it boots up, cause it has drivers for a gigabyte motherboard, as well as a amd gpu.).
I could try the cmos default thing, but i dont know how to do it, i thought it was by removing the cmos battery for some minutes. And isnt updating the bios risky? Many things could go wrong there

Don't try booting with another systems SSD. It will not work.
You can clear CMOS by removing the MB battery then pressing the start button to deplete the MB capacitors. Replace the battery and try again. Failing to get to bios can be a dead or failing CMOS battery too.
That will reset CMOS or you can use the jumper pins on the MB.

As for Bios updates, There is only a very slight risk if power to your system is lost or disconnected. These days it is not such a concern and is necessary as Bios updates are quite frequent to address New USB devices and for improved stability.

How to clear CMOS?

Clear RTC RAM ( 3-pin CLRTC )

This jumper allows you to clear the Real Time Clock ( RTC ) RAM in CMOS. You can clear the CMOS memory of date, time and system setup parameters by erasing the CMOS RTC RAM data.
The on-board button cell battery powers the RAM data in CMOS, which include system setup information such as system passwords.

To erase the RTC RAM :

1. Turn off the computer and unplug the power cord.
2. Move the jumper cap from pins 1-2 ( default ) to pins 2-3. Keep the cap on pins 2-3 for about 5-10 seconds, then move the cap back to pins 1-2.
3. Plug the power cord and turn ON the computer.
4. Hold down the key during the boot process and enter BIOS setup to re-enter data.
