Were giving my young son an older laptop. I meant to factory reset it. I wiped the whole thing out. I did a secure erase in bios. Now when u turn it on u get the error boot device not found please install os on hard disk. 3fo. I believe I saw an media test failure error also. The computer worked perfect before I did that to it. I now have no start menu n most f buttons like f11 are not showing. I did the f2 tests n the result was passed. I reseated the hard drive as well. I went in to bois again n loaded default settings n made sure hard drive was listed. Anything else I can do?
There's nothing on the laptop we want or need I just want to get it goin again. Do I need to buy a windows 7 installation disk? Do I need a repair disk?
Its an older hp probook. Model 6560b. Bios has a date of 2011.

If you did a secure erase then it's obvious that it won't boot in to Windows any more because you've "nuked" the Windows installation. What you should have done instead is a Factory Recovery which would have reset it to factory default condition, thus removing all existing user data & user accounts, ready for the new owner to set up just like when it was new.

It may still be possible to do a Factory Recovery provided you haven't secure erased the entire hard drive.

If the Factory Recovery partition has also been erased then you'll have to contact HP & ask if they can supply you with a set of recovery discs for that laptop model.

If they can't, you'll have to buy Windows 7 installation media & licence from a trusted vendor like Amazon...

Install that, then head over to the HP website to get the Windows 7 drivers for that laptop model.
