boot disc not working

So, my laptop fell its an Acer Aspire 5733-6436. Well it started saying check cable no bootable device upon restarting it after the fall (first and second mistake)

I ordered the boot cds from Acer. The system will read the first system disc, then asks for the recovery disc 1. It gets about 15 percect done on Recovery disc 1 before it just stops working and freezes. I fear I need to buy a new HDD, but was wondering if anyone else had suggestions, since I am stuck looking for answers on my phone. Thanks in advance.

First you should check if the hdd is still visible. Go in BIOS and see if it shows up there. If its visible you should try checking the hdd for bad sectors. try downloading hiren boot cd, boot in Mini windows XP and you will have plentry of tools there to check it.

I did have to reset the HD before it showed up on the BIOS screen. Even when I choose to restore the OS, it says the hd name and partion acer.
(It won't allow the other 2 to be choosen which is save user data and factory restore system since it claims I have data on the C drive) is there a way to erase the C drive?
 
If you pick factory restore it should just do it, although with a warning about having data on the drive. You don't have an option to continue during the factory restore?

You may have damaged the drive with the drop also, especially if it was running when it fell. Not just have it get disloged form the connectors.

See if the BIOS has a disk check utility you can run, if not you can boot off a disk like Ultimate Boot CD or Hirens and run one of the disk check utilities they have.

I've tried both the boot disc (it reads it and stalls at 15 percent copied) and the Hirens(won't even read that) the HD does show up on the BIOS screen. I ordered a new HD, just in case- it hasn't arrived yet so I'm hoping thats the issue. Thanks for all the help.
