Boot error on laptop

Hi, I have a boot problem when my laptop is started.

I have the Toshiba satellite L450D-12X

The problem: It lags all the time. For e.g. when logon screen is displayed, before I type in my password windows is automatically booted from the start again. However if i press on random keys on the keyboard, the lag stops. But after a while it will start again.
I have done memtest to check if my RAM is ok. I tried to do a system recovery, but it doeesn't seem to allow me and an error displays saying that there is a problem with my hardware or software.

If you can't do a recovery, could be a hard drive issue. Make sure you have done backups.

Check the BIOS and see if there is a drive check utility, run it. If not in the BIOS, see if Toshiba had a drive check software you can run, usually it will be a download from their support site. If none there, see what drive brand you have and dowload a test from the drive vendor, a good list is here http://www.onlinecomputertips.com/pc-hardware/drive_utilities.html
