Hi,

I have an old PC at my office, but it get's the job done. However, recently I switched to Windows-to-Go kind of work and it transformed my business.

The only problem is, this old PC has Asus P5B-VM SE motherboard, which doesn't have USB3.0, and my Windows is installed on high speed 3.0USB stick.
It boots up just fine, slowly, and there are occasional hickups and freezes, since the speed is so low. So I thought, if I put in PCI-E USB3.0 card, I would have the desired speed and all will be fine.

However, my BIOS doesn't even see that expansion card. When I go to boot manager with my USB memory stick in that PCIE card, It's not listed. Only if I put it back into 2.0 USB ports on motherboard, I get to chose it from boot manager.

Am I missing something, is this scenario even possible? Or is it time for new MBO-CPU-RAM combo?

PS. PCI-E card is Orico PME-$UI
PPS. When I'm in Windows, PCI-E card works just fine, it reads any other stick I put in

Sounds like an issue between drivers, legacy bios, UEFI. As in your older mobo doesnt support UEFI for native hardware support, so it has to wait for Windows to load the drivers. Obviously thats a problem when the Windows installation in question is hanging off the device which needs the drivers in the first place.

Upgrade to a newer mobo which has USB 3.0 and save the trouble.
