Boot issue - changed BIOS to UEFI now can't boot.

I made the unfortunate error in changing my BIOS boot options to UEFI without having any UEFI set up and now (obviously) my computer won't start, I just receive a blank screen. Can this be changed back so I can go back into BIOS and fix it? Is there a way to do this without reformatting anything?

On my old laptop / work machine for the time being. Woops. All help muchly appreciated!

Yes, you can change it back to "legacy" boot. You'll have to consult your motherboard manual to figure out where that option is exactly.

Isn't very helpful for me lol. I've tried taking out the battery and unplugged it all. Doesn't seem to have wiped the memory :/ any pointers? It turns on and I don't even get the option to go into bios. Screen just blinks as it does with no signal.

If the motherboard doesn't POST, you're looking at a possibly failed motherboard. I would, if you're capable, remove the hard drive from the laptop and see if it POSTs. If not, I'm leaning toward a fried board.

I left it unplugged for 3 hours instead of 10 minutes. Popped battery back in, plugged it all back in. Works. PHEW! Panic over. Thanks man.

Gigabyte motherboards do seem to have a habit of doing this if you mess up the BIOS settings. (At least I've managed to do it a few times with mine.) Rather than waiting three hours next time just unplug it from the mains and use the BIOS reset jumper to clear the CMOS.

you can return to your bios by hitting f2/del/esc for the most computers for newer model toshiba press down f7 and hit power press down until bios will comes out and disable boot protection then system config and set your laptop/pc from uefi to csm boot then go back to boot protection and enable it again then save and exit your pc will boot to normal/or classic boot. done!
