Question Boot issue- New PC Build

Just built a new PC & I’m having issues installing windows 10 & getting it to read the external hard drive from the boot menu. The hard drive does show up in the boot menu depending on what is turn on under the boot tab in bios. The external hard drive I’m using is a sea gate backup slim + 1TB. This is the error message I’m getting “reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key”. When you press any key it repeats the message. Also the bios is updated to the newest version. Thanks!

Rtx 2080 super
Samsung ssd 860 evo 1TB 2.5 internal
Samsung ssd 970 evo plus 1TB interface

where is the installation media?
and unplug anything but the ssd that you want to install windows 10 to

do mean unplug everything from the motherboard except the external hardware?

I mean if you have multiple hdd/ssd. only plug in the one where you want to install windows 10 to.

change bios to boot from that

I’ve tried that, when I restart and select the boot menu I selected the external hard drive and the error pops up after that. Could the issues be using a external hard drive vs. a flash drive ?

how did you make the installation media on the external hdd?

Downloaded from Microsoft.com using a MacBook Air. Then dragged it on the hdd
