Boot Issues when I upgraded my Graphics card Nvidia GT 520m to GTX 750ti

I've had my computer for about 4 years now and decided it was finally time for an upgrade, I was so excited to finally play games at at least medium graphics settings.
I do my research first and check if my PC is compatible (im a noob at this stuff so I made sure)
My motherboard (Gigabyte ga-h61m-ds2 rev2.0) says its compatible with the GTX 750 ti
My power supply is 550Watts so that should be okay
I have 2x4gig ram sticks in there.
All running on a Intel Core i5-2400 CPU @ 3.10Ghz
I even updated my @BIOS (after the problem happened)

So, the Problem is once I've installed the Card into my PC all nice and snug and then go to switch on my computer It boots, the CPU fan spins and so does the GTX's fan. But it pauses at my @BIOS menu (usually it just flashes to that then moves onto the "starting windows" screen) then after 10 seconds or so it goes to a black screen with a flashing "_" in the corner.
I've been scouring the internet for hours looking for a solution and finally gave up and decided this was my last bet before taking it to a repairs place and asking them to work some magic so I can go home and play games.

Sounds like one of those factory issues.

Must be more than coincidence that it happens just when Windows is finished with base graphics and hands over to the higher end level before the system finishes booting. In any Windows version before 8, restart and tap Function 8 key then from the Advanced Boot menu, choose the 800x600 graphics mode. Restart again and although the large font and icons will fill the screen, you may be able to get online and update the graphics driver.

I guess I'll just have to get my hands on another comp and try it out there seeing as I cant return it :/

It's always a good idea in testing on another build.

The other problem im having which I forgot to mention is that my BIOS menu wont even work. Rolling my face onto the entire keyboard does nothing the only function that works is Ctrl+Alt+Delete and it just restarts back to the Pre-BIOS menu
So not even booting in safe mode is an option

I hate to say this but the obvious answer is to reverse the physical change that made this behaviour start. If that fails to improve things, I fear Mike BD hit the nail on the head.

Does that pre-BIOS menu offer you any Function key choices - recovery, perhaps?

Yeah I shoved my old card back in and set it all back to normal. Will have to try it out on a diff PC
