Hi all.
I exchanged my CPU for a I5 5675C and my motherboard for the Asus Z97M-PLUS, using two 2x8GB DDR3 1600mhz Kingston HyperX Beast (2x KHX16C9T3K2/16x identical kits) that I was using previously with a Pentium G3220 that was serving as a backup since my older I5 fried.
The system works fine with a single 2x8GB kit installed, and even with 3 modules, totalling 24gb. However when I try to use all four modules to have 32GB available the system goes into boot loop (Turns on for 3 seconds, then turns off, on again for 3 seconds and goes forever).
By tweaking around in the bios (setting it into power saving mode, raising the voltage, changing DRAM frequency) I was able to get the 32GB working. Proceeded with installing the OS and everything seemed to be fine, but then I turned the PC off and after some minutes when I turned it on the same thing happened: 3 seconds and then boot loop.
Now I'm sometimes able to get it to work by removing a module, setting the bios to defaults and re-doing it again (power saving, raising the voltage from 1.500v to ~1.560v, DRAM frequency at 1333mhz) and re-inserting the module. Then it goes in boot loop again, but by turning the power off for 10 seconds and turning it back on makes it to start, stating that the overclocking failed. Then I can go into the BIOS, virtually do nothing, and it will start normally, working great until I turn it off again!
At first I noticed that the problem happened every time that I used the B1 and B2 slots together (even if they were the only two being used), so I went to the shop where I bought my motherboard and got a new one, but the same thing happens. Also, I've already exchanged my I5 5675C for a new one with no luck, so I'm really at a loss here. I have tested every single stick into every single slot, worked like a charm.
When I fit my old Pentium G3220 I'm able to start with my memory modules without any problems.
Tried XMP, was able to boot, but after turning it off and on again, the boot loop returned.
My system:
ASUS Z97M-PLUS
Intel I5 5675C
4x8GB Kingston HyperX Beast DDR3 1600mhz (two 2x8GB Kits - KHX16C9T3K2/16X):
- CL9, 1.5V, 9-9-9, full specs at http://www.kingston.com/dataSheets/KHX16C9T3K2_16X.pdf
Powered by a Corsair CX600 PSU.
I was wondering if I should try to set the DRAM/CPU settings manually, but I'm not that experienced with tweaking with it, so I would need some light here
Thank you!
