Hi. Tech dummy here. My win7 pc was sent to me by my brother to play games on. It was fine playing skyrim and battlefield on ultra for a few months and then started acting wierd. Rebooting randomly. It wouldn't stay on long enough to reach safe mode or bios, my temps are well within tolerance via monitors, it's not power slack or surge either, since we have a dedicated circuit for this wall that used to run PA equipment.. I went through the basics of forum questions and people telling me to scrap my pc or buy new video cards and power supplies. Didn't seem right , somehow, So after months of thinking it was my video card which was acting noisy until I fixed the fan, I discovered that it stays on just fine if the HD is disconnected. Aha!(?) unfortunately I have no boot cd's or OS to reinstall since it was a hand me down tower. So new HD and buy a new OS and lose my data I'm guessing? Yesterday chkdsk ran on its own after a surprise boot and just scrolled crazy text for an hour after saying disk needs to be checked for consistency. Then a huge dump of Mostly "deleting blahblah" and "replacing orphaned files".

So, hardware.. Radeon 6850 hd video card, sea gate barracuda 1000gig hd, extreme gear 600w Atx power supply, win7 home premium svc pack 1, system model z68ap-d3 / x64 based pc, Intel core i7-2600k PCI @3.40 Ghz / 3392 MHZ/ 4 core 8 logical processors, 8GB RAM, 14.5 of 16.8GB of available virtual memory. That's all I can see. I think it's an AMD board. Asus? Idk. I'm not very literate at this. Any ideas? Thank you for the help. -g hateboard666@gmail
So confused and bummed.

Update.
Got a safe mode boot finally.. After powering up without HD installed and then plugging back in and restarting. Wierd. Used system restore and got a stop message. "Process or thread crucial to system exited or terminated" stop: 0xooooof4" and then a string of numbers after. 3 sets. Restarted in safe again went to sysconfig and toggled boot auto loaders. Went to sys info and Sys info also says, " security processor load ROOT/LEGAC_SPLDR\00000 this device is missing or doesn't have its drivers" under Problem Devices. Rabbit hole getting deeper...

The product key was in the box.. However recovery says that the OS was pre installed by manufacturer and Microsoft cannot help. Time to call the company and work from there. Thank you!
