Hey everyone
I have seen a few of the other threads on the matter and have looked around on the internet for a solution, however, none seem to be assisting my cause. So any help will be appreciated.
I have just relocated interstate. Prior to the move I removed all HD's (6) from my computer and packed them up securely in a box.
Upon setting up the computer at the new digs I am getting a "Boot manager is missing" error from the drive (an SSD) which runs my operating system (sole purpose almost). The system was perfectly stable prior to relocation.
At the stage I have done the following, in no particular order:
1. Checked the BIOS and boot order is correct (it is),
2. Forced the computer to boot from the correct drive via the BIOS,
3. Checked all the power and sata cables were connected correctly,
4. Tried to boot from the Windows CD, this initially didn't work and the same error appeared, the system dropped into the BIOS or sat thinking,
5. Once the CD worked I was unable to do a repair on the drive as it did not recognise any Windows install,
6. Removed all other drives and tried the above points,
7. Tried the drive on different SATA and power cables (In case of a faulty one).
The BIOS see's the drive as being there.
To temporarily fix the problem I have installed a new Window OS on one of the other drives I knew had minimal on it, with no other drive connected. This worked and I then connected all other drives back into the system and restarted.
The Computer is now booting from this new install.
The original boot drive (SSD) is recognised by the system, is fully accessible and I am able to use programs installed on it, so I do not believe the cause is that the SSD died in transit.
So at this stage I am a bit stumped as to the cause. Any thoughts?
I was thinking of updating the BIOS, or checking the partition on the operating system to check it was active.
Last straw is I will format the SSD and start over.
