Question Boot problems

Hi there,

Not sure if this is posted in the correct topic.

I cleaned the dust out of the inside of my laptop. The CMOS battery popped out. I put it back in but it seemed loose. Then when I turned it back on it said failed to detect media, no bootable device.

However when I plugged the SSD drive into an external USB port it booted fine (even with the BIOS battery out).

Any ideas as to what the problem is?

Thanks for your help.

Battery is there to keep BIOS settings change in CMOS, when removed CMOS is cleared and BIOS/UEFI returns to factory presets so you have to enter changes (like disk priority etc.)
