Boot sequence conflict USB

Hello.
I want to reinstall My operating system but i am held down by something.
So basically My 16GB bootable USB stick somehow stops the bios sequence. It s like i press a pause button when i plug it in! I just can,t figure it out.. Any ideas?

did you put it as first boot device to reinstall the os .

- Unplug all extra drives ( hard and optical) from your motherboard, leave only the boot drive you're trying to install the operating system onto and the USB drive
- load your motherboard Bios and make the USB flash drive as 1 st boot device, save and exit, then proceed to boot

- You could scan your USB flash drive for errors before starting the above process.
- make sure your drive cables are well physically connected to the motherboard and Power supply.

- What operating system are you trying to install?
- What model is your motherboard?
- What USB port is your USB flash drive attached to ? and is it one of those add on USB 3.0 reader or front panel port ?

IT s a 2.0usb and the MB is a Gigabyte GA-G31M-ES2L... Well.. IT s not that it doesnt boot from the usb but the bios freezes as long as the usb is connected.. So i cant set it to boot from there.. Weird.. (i did get rid of everything but what i need from the computer...)

did you check this usb pen drive in another system to see if it does the same .

One interesting thing is that this exact usb drive is what i used to install my OS last time.. And it worked..and yes it does work for other computers

then you could usb port issue but i would also recheck all files on this usb pen drive and made sure it still a bootable one .

- I am guessing you've already tried a different USB PORT ?!
- Are you installing windows 10 or 7 ?
- Do you get to the Bios screen where it says BOOT DEVICE PRIORITY? are you able to view and select the USB flash drive and under what name it does come up.
- Could you try hooking up a different USB flash drive and boot to bios?
- Does your bios hangs and reboots or just freezes?, what ports are you using for your keyboard and mouse ?

So.. It s Windows 7.. It s like this: press power, and the first thing that pops on the screen is that bios brand or whatever (energystar?) and below that should appear the memory testing (ram), this is where i can press DEL F8 and all of those but it just get s stuck if i have that usb plugged in, i tried everything but i have no idea what could cause this. I use that round port for The mouse and keyboard PS2 i think its called. Changing what port i plug it into does nothing different.

IT s frozen when it s in, nothing works, keyboard is dead until i remove the usb

-disconnect any USB cable front header from your motherboard .
- try another usb flash drive just to check
- try booting to bios without the USB stick, then attached it once you are already in the bios.
- Boot with another boot drive system, load windows and then attach the problematic USB flash drive and see if it shows up or freezes your system.

You tried everything but now it's a mystery to us all lol, we need some feed back so we can progress
One last thing would you be able to reformat properly the USB flash drive , and try to attach it again while empty and see how things go ?
I would appreciate some detailed feed back with outcome on every attempted step !

the ps2 is not detect as boothing device so you need to use the usb port for this and your motherboard does it support from boothing to usb in bios .

Ok i will try starting with the usb empty ser what happens

when it is empty try to see how it is detect and that system start when he is plug in .

I also tried to shrink it s partition size from 16 GB to the minimum thay the Windows installer allows ME but no result.

My problem is that i live in a remote area and there is no place where i could find another one...should i try to upgrade My bios?

OK I HAVE 3 SIMPLE QUESTIONS: please don't skip any of the answers !
1..Do you have another computer or laptop ? you could test, format or scan that USB flash drive ?
2.Can you boot the computer (with the USB port problem) into windows if the problematic Flash drive is not attached?
3. Do you have an external Hard Drive?or another USB device to attach to the problematic USB port to test it ?

Yes i do have another computer, i tested the usb stick and it does boot from it, no problem.
And Yes i can boot into Windows without that usb attached
No, i dont have an external hard drive but i dont Think that the ports are the problem, this problem occurs with any of the ports that i use..
Question : does the bios have like a maximum usb boot drive size? I mean, IT will allow booting from a usb that is like 8gb maximum?

__Ok, now last check is your motherboard Bios: make sure USB 2.0 controller is enabled, and the Legacy USB 2.0 storage detect is enabled as well (page 44 of your mobo Bios manual >> http://download1.gigabyte.us/Files/Manual/mb_manual_ga-g31m-es2l(es2c)_v2.3_e.pdf)

USB Controller
Enables or disables the integrated USB controller. (Default: Enabled)
Disabled will turn off all of the USB functionalities below.
USB 2.0 Controller
Enables or disables the integrated USB 2.0 controller. (Default: Enabled)
USB Keyboard Support
Allows USB keyboard to be used in MS-DOS. (Default: Disabled)
USB Mouse Support
Allows USB mouse to be used in MS-DOS. (Default: Disabled)
Legacy USB storage detect
Determines whether to detect USB storage devices, including USB flash drives and USB hard
drives during the POST. (Default: Enabled)

Then after verifying these settings try your USB flash drive, if still doesn't work try it again with the last option disabled (Legacy USB Storage detect = disabled)

Checked that already, but i'll just leave it like that and get another usb stick, sorry for The hassle!!
