So my computer has been having issues booting into the operating system when cold. I will turn it on and it will get stuck at POST code AD (Ready to Boot Event). I transfered my OS from my SSD to a HDD and still had the issue. I tried installing a fresh version of windows on that second HDD and the issue continued. I then tried with Ubuntu on that second HDD and still got stuck. I have tried disabling the onboard WIFI, disabling fast boot, clearing the CMOS, updating the UEFI, updating the SSD firmware, turning off the ASMEDIA USB 3.0 controller, MEMTEST 86....

Sounds like a dead motherboard, right? I have seen reports of this on Gigabyte motherboards and it seems like the safe way to go is one of the MSI X99S/X99A SLI PLUS/KRAIT edition motherboards.

SSD set to AHCI
CPU temps are normal

In my case with an Asus Maximus Apex I have the same behavior. It seems to be connected with overheating RAM or CPU. After an CPU intensive job the boot was stuck at Ad . Waiting an hour or so with the machine cooling down allews a normal boot to commence.
