Boot Time on my SSD is slow after adding HDD

Before, I only had two SSD's. One had Windows, the other had OS X but the boot priority was for Windows.

Now, I added a WD Black HDD and 3 old HDD from my old laptops.

Before, my boot time would be under 10 seconds. I would never see the windows logo or the login screen as I do not have a password. Now I am stuck on those two screens for 10 seconds each.

I read all the old threads on the site and followed every direction but it doesn't seem to make a difference. I formatted all the old HDD from the laptops so they have no data on there.

how full is the drive? What make, model#, and size is it.

You can always find your drivers on your motherbds support page. Linked below, just select your OS

Still the bios has to query them and set them up, the OS has to initialize and enable them, the Anti-virus is going to do a quick startup scan on them... What else do you have that might check the drives before you log in? Anti-malware/spyware? anti-ad software?

All this adds time to the process sadly.

I removed all the hard drives except for the SSD and it is still slow. I no longer get the fast boot times that I used to have.

Hey there, hsdubb!

I'd recommend you to try resolving the issue by resetting BIOS and checking if you have the latest BIOS version installed from your motherboard manufacturer's website. While there, I'd also suggest you update the SATA controller and chipset drivers. Using the SSD's brand-specific utility to determine if you have the latest firmware update for your solid-state drive is also recommended. You can also try reseating the SATA connections and making sure everything is mounted properly. Checking for any malware/spyware is definitely a good idea as well.

Good luck!

The SSD Firmware is up to date.
How can I find the SATA drivers? My motherboard is ASUS Maximus VIII Hero and I have an i7-6700K
