Hi Guys,

Firstly id like to say im new here and that i apologize if this is in the wrong place.

Well I got a new Samsung SAM 850 Pro 512gb SSD for my birthday and after plugging it in i've run into problem.

Dont get me wrong, the SSD is amazing, it works perfectly well and runs like an absolute monster.

The problem is that once i plugged it in and booted up my PC it would:

1) Boot up
2) After 5 seconds-ish (before bios i believe) shut down
3) Boot up again
4) Continue as normal and load to desktop.

This only happens every time i start the computer after turning it off from the plug. If i restart it, shut down or anything else without turning the plugs off it doesn't happen.

Im really stumped on what the problem is...

Lastly i've also noticed that sometimes the new drive likes to set itself as the priority boot option. Could this relate to something?

I also have another OCZ vertex 125gb ssd, and a 500gb normal HDD.
Currently running in AHCI mode.

Any help or guidance on where to look or what to do would be great.
Thanks a lot!

So what you're saying is this happens only when you flip the switch on your PSU, or unplug your computer?

If that's right, then you have nothing to worry about. Both of the PC's I've built have done this. It should just be the system just doing a self check.

Yeah it only happens once i flip the PSU switch or unplug the pc

If it is a self check, how comes it has only started to happen once ive plugged in a new SSD?
It doesnt seem like a self check - i mean it also sets itself as the default priority boot option sometimes.

Oh, I miss read your post, I thought it was happening before. I've never looked deeply into this even though both of my builds did it as well, because it was never a problem. You honestly should be fine as long as it's not hanging on the post screen like Paul said.
