I cannot boot up on my gateway computer.
I t has two physical drives (c and D) one has ME the other had XP.
I had a dual boot setup. I eliminated the XP oon the D drive. No
problems. It went smoothly.
In booting up I still had to select either ME or XP In an effortf to
eliminate this annoyance I edited the Boot.ini. A big mistake since I
inadvertantly dropped ME. Now thecomputer triesto boot up to XP and
"hangs" when it can"t find it. Without going into painful detail I
have ttried every way I know to get into the computer. If I can gat
to the C drive my problem will be solved since I can then reedit the
boot.ini.

Go to www.bootdisk.com , and download the Windows ME boot disk image. Use it to
make a bootable Windows ME floppy diskette, the kind used to boot Windows ME
prior to running the entire install of the operating system. This should allow
you to see the C: drive, and edit boot.ini. But I forget whether or not a text
editor is included with the basic Windows ME boot disk. If not, do the same
with the Windows 98SE boot disk, which DOES have the EDIT program.
