Hi. Newcomer here for some help with trying to install a new version of Windows on my computer with a copy I bought online and am attempting to boot via USB. When I attempt to boot in BIOS I get a message that bootmgr is missing. How do I fix this?

It seems your USB boot is not working - either the computer tries to boot from hard drive or USB key is not prepared properly.

How did you prepare the USB disk you are trying to boot from?

You have posted this in Windows Vista forum - are you trying to install Vista?

I don't know why third-party tools are so widely used when Microsoft provides excellent utility for that.
You need your Windows ISO file, then download, install and run this.

Make sure your computer is set to boot from USB first from BIOS setting. Some computers allow for pressing a special key during boot to override the boot device.

I picked a couple of DVD-R's the other day. Would it be easier to boot if I mount the ISO to that?
