I have a laptop with a small capacity SSD (32gB) and a large conventional HD.
The system runs win10.
Presently the SSD (C:\) is almost full and spending its time on updating, and failing to update. Very slow for the user.
I have cloned the OS to the large disk (E:\), but how can I make the system boot from E:\??
The BIOS does not seem to have an option for that and I cannot change the driveletters.

Who will get me a solution without buying Partition Pro software?

Solution

Since there was a SSD and you cloned into a HDD, Windows needs to access the new drive and change the old settings.
Go to Device Manager, select your HDD and on the top bar click 'Scan for hardware changes'
If that does not fix the issue, then open Command prompt as Admin, type : winsat formal and hit Enter.

If you cloned C:\ to E:\, then E:\ contains everything you had on C:\. Easiest thing to do is to unplug C:\. System should then boot off of E:\. If you still want to keep the SSD, then plug it in while you are booted up on E:\, then format it and it should be useable space.

Which laptop model?
Some laptops might not be able to boot from another drive when both drives are connected to the motherboard.
Also you might need to install Windows from scratch or change the boot configuration in the BIOS.

I don't want to open the laptop, if not stricly necessary. Model is a PEAQ C1014
My BIOS shows as boot options: C;\, CD/DVD, Flashdisk or other location, but it seems not to save the changes.

Like you said those are boot options ...there are any other configurations in the BIOS?

Ok, It works almost correct. I changed the uefi/BIOS startup and now it is booting from the HD. But the HD believes it is a SSD. Probably highly fragmented and the standard defrag does not work yet. To Be solved.
