Booted PC, loud pop, now it's dead :C

So, I had a half day today, so I came back from school and was booting up my PC, gonna do some work and stuff. But, after I pressed the power button, I heard this loud pop and it didn't boot up. I tried again, and I realized that it was dead. So, I opened up my side panel and started to investigate. I didn't see anything suspicious, nothing burnt or out of place on the motherboard, didn't smell anything either. So, since I was stumped, decided to ask the community.
Do you guys think that I the motherboard shorted, a blown capacitor or a failing PSU?

This PC is also only five months old also, so RMA shouldn't be a problem.

Which power supply? A Corsair HX850.

I am hoping it didn't. I'm going to try and borrow a PSU from a friend or bring it into the store I bought the components from to see if they can lend me a power supply to test everything.

Which power supply? A Corsair HX850.

Im sure you will be fine, quality power supplies rarely take out other components when they fail

Although that would normally be quickly associated with a PSU failure, with an HX850, I might also suspect the motherboard's VRM. Having access to a known working PSU is a big plus here for troubleshooting.

I tried another outlet, and another surge protecter, and another power cable. Still doesn't boot.

How would I check out the VRM without having access to a working PSU right now? All I got is my HX850, which looks pretty dead right now.

You would need to remove the motherboard to look for marks on the underside of the VRM area. I might suggest using this guide http://seasonicusa.com/RMABeta/JumpStart/JS.pdf to check the PSU operation also

Aight, I'll take out the motherboard from my PC as soon as I can and reply back.

Ok, I just removed the motherboard from my PC. I don't see any marks of any kind by the VRM, or on the backside where the VRM is located. Also, on my Asus motherboard, it is labeled Digi VRM, so I'm going to assume that is what you meant.

Try the paperclip jump on the PSU (the seasonic guide), see if the PSU fan turns on at all

Nope, the PSU fan didn't turn. Nothing happened at all. Probably a died PSU.

If you have a multimeter check the 12V and 3.3V pins (orange and yellow cables on 20-24 motherboard pin connector) for voltages. Some PSU fans don't spin until they hit high temps. Also very important check the 5Vsb cable (purple one)

Unfortunetly, I don't have a multimeter. Gonna see if the friendly neighbourhood Canada Computers might let me borrow one/test it for me for free.

I know I have a warrenty, but, I would have to pay for shipping it to Corsair, and if the motherboard ended up being the problem, I would of wasted $20+ bucks for international shipping (Canada to US) and up to 3 weeks of waiting. Then, I would have to RMA the motherboard. Better to figure out what is wrong first.

I forgot, in some motherboards USB ports receive power even when the computer is turned off, so you can charge a phone for example. And if you have Ethernet connected, you should see the green led lit. They receive power from the 5Vsb (standby) line. If you don't see any light on the Ethernet port or the USB ports don't receive power then the PSU is 100% dead.

With that information, you can safely pronounce the PSU dead - I'd say do the Corsair RMA
