Added a SSD to new Alienware machine and installed W10, system boots/runs from SSD ok.
On boot, get the "select operating sys" for Vol-2 or Vol-5.

  • Bios-boot is set to "windows boot manager". Guessing bios see's the previous boot-sys on HDD?

Have formatted the primary partition on HDD, but not the other partitions on HDD. Should I "delete volume" the other HDD partitions that I can?

    Update:
The HDD has partitions (winretools, image & Dellsupport) and all editing options are grayed, so cant delete the partitions. Maybe some sort of Dell-admin restriction????

Solution
Yes, go ahead and delete the other partitions on the old hard drive and your system should boot straight into the new Windows boot manager on your new SSD. This should cause no issues.
