Alright, so I recently installed a second kit of Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GB (2 x 4GB) on a ASRock Z170 Pro4S LGA 1151 Intel Z170 since I needed more ram for what I am doing and it was the exact ram kit I had. Since I installed the new kit, I have been unable to load up into Windows on any other settings without the motherboard resetting to defaults to boot up because it fails. Not even the xmp profile will work, the ram is stuck on 2133mhz and I can't get it to go any higher even though it is rated for 3000mhz. Here is my part list, if you have any ideas why this is not working please let me know. https://pcpartpicker.com/user/acewinters/saved/cMHycf

Solution
Yes, try that. Keep ram voltage at 1.35v and try 2800mhz, 2933mhz.

Anyway - I guess this is situation, when ram modules, that are not from same kit, refuse to work together at their full specs.

Alrighty right before I do this, I would just like to tell you i did get it to run at 2667mhz.

Did what you said, same result.

You put the ram you know to work into the other slots and it didn't boot?

Probably a bad slot then.

That mobo is dual channel though, so you need to make sure you're following what the manual says in regards to which slots you need to have ram plugged into. Usually, from left to right, you put ram into the 1st and 3rd slots for the first channel, and 2nd and 4th for the second channel.

Nope, still did not work, do you think I should just push the mhz til it wont let me boot, to get all that i can out of it? Or do you have another idea on how to get this to work.

Well thank you very much for your help anyways. I guess just get a 2x8 or a 4x4 kit next time and not get a 2x4 kit as a way to wait til needed. Thank you again, will let ya know what i get up to!

Edit 1: Seems all i can squeeze out is 2700mhz. Well you were a huge help, thank you!
