I've finally put my pc together thanks to the input of this board but I'm having some trouble. (I have an asrock Z68 extreme4 gen3 motherboard btw) When I boot up something called the "driver disk preparer 1.07" comes up and gives me three options
1. generate the raid/ahci driver diskette for intel z68 chipset
2. generate the ahci driver diskette for marvell sata 3.0
3. exit

If i pick either one or two it says "no supported drive found: floppy 1.44 and usb drive!" and reboots, if I pick option three it just reboots. I've tried moving my removing my ssd, moving my hdd drive around (to the various sata inputs) I also connected a floppy disk thing, i'm pretty clueless at this point.

any help would be very appreciated.

Start the computer and enter BIOS by pressing the correct key .

changed the hard drive to run in Native IDE mode .
Make sure the dvd drive is the first boot device

put the windows disc in the dvd drive and restart .

After windows has loaded and the computer is running , re-enter BIOS and change the boot order so that the hard drive is the first boot device .

And then install the motherboard drivers from the disk .

You may also have to add the AHCI drivers which will speed up hard drive access times . Google will tell you how

PS. If you have more than one hard drive its easier to disconnect the power from all except the one you want to install windows on , until after windows is running

yeah, clearly should have just installed windows. being a bit thick.

What is ahci exactly? and is raid important?

Advanced Host Controller Interface

it a software driver for higher end hard drive functions . The install method I suggested sidestepped it till later

RAID is using two or more hard drives to either speed up performance , make data safer if a drive fails , or both

JKatwyopc nailed it. You have left the mobo driver CD in the drive. Remove it, and all your troubles will vanish.

The mobo instructions probably say something like, "Kindly put Driver CD top to bottom first for make ancestors happy." They mean first thing after installing Windows, not "first".
