Hello,
I'm hoping someone can help me with this.

here's my situation. I have an older pc(Windows 7), and built a new one(Windows 10) last month. between the two pc's, I'm using a KVM switch, made by Iotech. I figure something simple: I would like to use my older pc for work related stuff, and the newer one for gaming and editing. I have one monitor, a keyboard and a mouse, and with the switch, I could switch from one pc to the other with no problem.
while I'm at it, I decided that I needed a new monitor. something in the vicinity of 27", and 144hz refresh rate. This is where my problem started. To take advantage of the new monitor, I have to directly connect the display port cable from the video card to the monitor. with that requirement, I can no longer use the KVM switch since it has a VGA connector. with the VGA, the maximum refresh rate that it will allow is 60hz. so my solution was Multiplicity, a KVM software. I can directly connect the new pc to the monitor, and access my older pc using Multiplicity.

Downloaded it this morning on the two pc's and so far so good. I can seamlessly transition from one pc to the other with no problem. great product!
my problem is this:
on the older pc, when I turn it on, it would go to failure since it can't find the monitor, keyboard and mouse, so I have to hook those peripherals back just to get it. and then, once I'm in, I have to log in because when I first got this computer, I had it set up so everyone in my household has a personal user account. my questions is:
how do I set up my older pc so it wouldn't go to failure since it would no longer find the monitor, keyboard and mouse?

Go into the bios and turn off boot error on no mouse or keyboard on the older w7 computer. Alternatively since you have two monitors consider using mouse without boarders as software kvm. No more switching needed.

I'll check the BIOS once i get home. Thank you!
Thx for that auto login solution, Thomas! I'll try that.
Also thanks for the MwB link as well! Looks like it's free; that's even better!

Yes, it is Thomas. I'm trying the trial version just to get acquainted with kvm software.
Question about input director: how's the audio on that? Does it have a lag?
I just downloaded multiplicity this morning before coming to work and did a fast review. I noticed it has a very noticeable lag when i played a youtube video.

My pcs do not have access to the internet, so no playing from youtube from them. Each have their own monitor, and Input Director is used only for the mouse and keyboard. The connecting network is 1GHz via a basic 8-port unmanaged switch. I can play videos across the network without lag though, just not tried via youtube.

i downloaded version 1.3 beta (the latest version) on both Win 7 and Win 10. i was planning on making the 7 as slave, and 10 as Master. didn't have problem setting up Window 7, but when i tried to set it up on Window 10, a dialog box came up that says "Input Director is compatible only with 2000, 2003, XP, Vista, 2008 and Windows7. do you want to proceed?". i decided not to finish it up

I suggest you go ahead and proceed with install on your Windows 10. AFAIK, it is a very small program that does not impede other programs and Windows itself.

I use it with my other network critical programs for multi-display presentations (also Master to multiple Slaves), viz. Dataton Watchout and AvStumpfl Wings Platinum, and the occasional Teamviewer, and not had Input Director interfering or being the cause of any network problems versus others (notably Windows Media Centre, anti-virus software and Windows Firewall).
