I bought a new ssd and it wouldn't detect in my bios so I tried swapping SATA cables and got a bootmgr is missing so I figured the cable is dead (it was left connected in a sata port for years without connecting anything) and put the good cable back on my windows ssd but now it won't load windows and I get a bootmgr is missing error even when I select to boot from the SSD where windows is installed to.

Specs:
Windows 7 home premium 64 bit
i7 4820k (stock clock)
Corsair rm1000
Gigabyte x79-up4 rev 1.1
16gb Kingston hyper x (4x4gb)
Sapphire 295x2 (stock clock)
2 SanDisk ssd plus 120gb drives
2 hard drives i don't know the make of but one is 2tb the other is 1tb IIRC

Solution
it is probably attempting to boot from the SSD first. Go into your BIOS and set your old hard drive with windows as the first boot device
