BOOTMGR is missing press ctrl+alt+del to restart

I turned my PC off, moved it (since someone needed the desk), and now it won't boot and says BOOTMGR is missing. How do I fix it?

I'm on an MSI 970 gaming MB, it says del to run bios setup, F11 to run boot menu. I tried both, but neither opened anything else up.

Try all the F keys, specially F2. How did you enter bios earlier before this issue???

How to fix BOOTMGR is missing error without a Windows disk

You will still need a boot CD/DVD or USB drive, but not with the operating system distribution. You should place some recovery image on that drive, Hiren’s Boot CD for example. The images of these disks are available on most torrents and include a set of tools that allow correcting some windows issues including bootmgr is missing error.

I usually use MbrFix utility, available on the Hiren’s Boot CD. To restore Windows boot (assuming that it is Windows 7, and is installed on a single partition on a single hard disk), it is enough to enter the command:

MbrFix.exe /drive 0 fixmbr /win7

After that, confirm the changes to the Windows bootable partition. When you start MbrFix.exe without any parameters, you get a list of possible actions you can do with this utility.

These utilities have enough, but I do not recommend using them for novice users – their use requires some special knowledge, and in some cases can lead to data loss and you need to reinstall the operating system in the future.
