Boots in Single-Channel when OC

Jul 20, 2003
My motherboard isn't the greatest for overclocking, as there's no vcore control. But I'm too broke to get a new CPU, and after years and years of doing just that - I figured I'd finally get into OC'ing.

MSI K9N NEo-F nForce 550
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ Windsor @ 2.4ghz stock
3gb DDR2 800mhz Kingston HyperX with 4-4-4-12-2T (2x1gb and 2x512mb)

I can really only adjust the FSB. I can get it to run alright at 216mhz, but something odd happens. It boots into single-channel mode. If i reduce the FSB to 215, the problem becomes intermitten, and the more i reduce it, the less it happens until I get to about 210ish. Then it stops doing it and always comes on in dual channel mode.

Any idea what might be causing this? Anything specific I should look at doing? Is it going to cause any harm if I just reboot until it comes up in dual mode and just run with it?

Once it boots up in dual mode at 215, it seems to run just fine.

EDIT: Scratch that last line, just blue screened.
