I have an older ASUS computer (Windows 7) that I was running with an ASUS monitor. Originally, I was using the DVI port from the computer to the DVI port on the monitor. It worked fine. I never tried using the HDMI ports, even though both the computer and monitor both have DVI and HDMI ports. Recently I wanted to hook up a KVM switch but the switch only has HDMI inputs/output, so I tried using the HDMI port from the computer to the to the monitor. It displayed fine, except there was maybe a 1/2-inch black border all around the display. The DVI display had no such border. I thought maybe the KVM was causing the problem, so I hooked up the computer directly to the monitor using the HDMI ports. Same thing, a 1/2-inch black border. I looked at my display settings and they are set at 1920 x 1080, just like the DVI setup was. My questions are:
1. What information do I need to gather and post here to get help on this.
2. What steps should I take to resolve the problem? As I said, I checked the display settings. I also looked in the bios settings on the computer itself, and couldn't seem to find any help there. I looked at the monitor menu, but didn't find any help there either. I tried updating the PnP driver for the monitor, but that didn't help.
Any suggestions would be appreciated!
