I just bought a second-hand PC. I wanted a budget gaming PC that could play the games I play; Dota2, Civ V and Path of Exile. These are the specs:
Processor: i5 2500k with cooler master TX-3
Motherboard: Asus p8z68-v
Memory: Corsair 8GB(2x4GB) ddr3
HDD: WD Raptor 320GB 10.000 rpm
Power supply: Cooler Master GX Lite 600 Watt
GPU: EVGA GTX580 3GB
This system should easily run these games. I played Dota2 at max graphics at 120 fps for an hour on the first day. But after a day or two of playing the games began to crash on me. The fans were really loud. So I installed HW monitor to check on the GPU and CPU fan speed and temperature.
I changed the graphic settings in Dota2 to the very lowest to see if that made a difference. Within seconds (literally 20 seconds) of spectating a game of dota, the temperature of both CPU and GPU skyrocketed to 97c and 90c and the GPU fan went to 4000 rpm. Afraid of completely breaking it, I stopped the game.
I opened up the computer and checked all the fans, they were very clean.
Edit: I have also upgraded all the drivers and BIOS.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
