Hi, I've been having an issue with my PC after installing my new GPU. I initially thought it was simply a failing GPU, but after further usage and testing I'm not so sure anymore - hopefully someone here can help me figure out this mystery.

Symptom
ONLY when playing (some) games, both my 144hz monitors goes black. I have sound for around 10 seconds, which then disappears. GPU fans goes to max speed. I've tried waiting around for up to 5 minutes, but I can not proceed or do anything before restarting my PC using my power button.

Specs

  • CPU: Intel Core i5 4690 @ 3.50GHz
    RAM: 16.0GB Single-Channel DDR3
Motherboard: Gigabyte Technology Co. Ltd. Z97X-Gaming 7
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB (MSI)
    Storage: 111GB SSD(OS), 232 SSD, and 500GB HDD

CPU degrees rarely exceed 70 Celsius, while GPU never crosses 60.

I've searched around for previous fixes to these kind of symptoms, which goes in the direction of faulty power supplies or GPUs. I have a rather new 800W PSU which worked fine with my old GPU. Additionally, also as mentioned before, I don't think is necessarily is faulty hardware(while still a possibility of course), but possibly a software issue, as the crashes only happen under rather odd circumstances:

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
Crashes when running in 16:9. For personal preference I do however play the game in 4:3, so it hasn't been an issue in that regard.

League of Legends
Crashes ONLY on Twisted Treeline(3v3).

World of Warcraft
Crashes anytime within a frame of 1 minute to 4 hours on any version of DirectX I've tried.

WildStar
Crashes when run with default settings. Does not crash at all when forced to run with DirectX9.

A Way Out
Does not crash at all.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds
No crashes at all.

I've played all game on the list above intensively, but I can of course not rule out some of the scenarios could come down to coincidence, but I doubt it at this point. I thought I found the core to the issue when I learned playing WildStar with forced dx9 stopped the crashes, but as it turned out the crashes still occurred in WoW on any DirectX and LoL which runs dx9 as a default.
Neither does it seem to be an issue with performance, as it runs intensive games as PUBG and A Way Out fine on high settings.

This is beginning to be a real mind-boggling issue for me, so I hope you guys can help me out.
