Three times recently, both my keyboard and mouse have stopped responding. Unplugging them and plugging them back in gets them working again. This has happened when my PC hasn't been in use for a while, such as overnight. I don't use sleep mode or anything like that. My other USB accessories still work fine, external drive, printer, etc.

If you're running Microsoft Windows, try disabling Power Management for all the 'USB root hubs' in Device Manager. This stops Windows from powering down the USB ports on your motherboard to save power. The keyboard and mouse might not be recognised when power is restored to the USB hub associated with the HID (Human Interface Device).

I tried this. I'll see what happens.
