Is there any problem with putting both a System Repair and a System Image on the same drive (Flash or DVD)?

Note: When I do a search on that question all the answers seem to be definitions of the difference between a Recovery disk, System Repair disk and a System Image disk, and question does not get answered.

I know the differences, just need to be schooled on if there would be a problem with a disk (or Flash Drive), hosting both at the same time.

Is there any advantage of using a Flash Drive over a DVD/CD disk for that purpose?

And when that physical device dies,?

'System Image'....is this from the built in Windows function?
If so, I find that to be a poor tool for any backup routine.
Do you have an answer for my two questions?
  1. Is it alright to put the System Repair and a System Image on the same disk?
  2. Is there any advantage of using a Flash Drive over a DVD/CD disk for that purpose?

  1. I wouldn't. But then, I wouldn't use the System Image in Widows to begin with.
  2. Flash drive. A USB port is more likely to exist than an optical drive.
In regard to your answer number one, can you give your rationale for why you would not. Please share what you know.

In regard to your answer number two, all the computers I have on my home network have optical drives as well as USB ports. In light of that, when the day comes that our computers are replaced with those with only USB ports, then of course it become a matter of using what resources are available (USB ports). Also, if our computers were upgraded (Windows 11?), then we would also have to upgrade/redo the system image and system repair anyway.

The Windows System Image is a poor substitute for more comprehensive Imaging tools.
I use Macrium Reflect.

Full drive images. Incremental and Differential.

Is your flash drive large enough to hold the FULL contents of your current drive(s)?

I can get a 2TB flash drive from Ebay for about $16.00 or so. That is way more than what I would need for my computer (about 45 GB of 500 used). My wife's has more capacity used up, but way less than her 2TB hard drive, so those 2 TB flash drives should have more than enough capacity.

I have used Macrium Reflect Free for cloning so it is familiar and available. I also have AOMEI Backerupper installed but have not used it yet.
