Both XFX ATI 4870 vs. 5750

Alright here's my situation. I bought this card (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150436) a few days ago and got a rebate (havent turned it it yet) that will put it at $125. Today I realized I could have gotten a 5750 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102859) for about 5 bucks more without the need for a rebate. I already have my 1st card and I opened the box but have not used it yet. I am going to be buying from newegg soon anyways, should I jsut return the 4870 and get the 5750, or not bother with it? Would I notice the difference with games such as Garry's Mod, HL2, and newer valve games and such (Other benchmarks dont tell me much)? Will it work out in the end if I stick with my current card? I am making my purchase of other stuff today so I would like a timely answer please.

Also there's not only the price/power aspect but also that the card I got uses two PCI-e Power cables while the 5750 only uses one. Also with the 5750 I get a native HDMI port and displayport where I need adapters for the one I currently have. So is the switch worth it?

Well, the 4870 is a much better performer...but isnt DX11, has no eyefinity, no hdmi etc...

BUT the 5750 isnt that powerful a card anyway and eyefinity would likely be useless to you....i bet even @ 1920x1200 it would struggle with newer games with eye candy on.

It depends what you prefer... DX11 + features or Better performance?

Personally....i wouldnt switch unless your gonna go for the 5770 or above; but of course these cost more than your 4870.

Also, when DX11 becomes the norm then the 5750/5770 will probs be a poor performer compared to whats out there.

The 5770 (one step up from the 5750) is close to the performance of a 4870. Although slightly slower from the benchmarks I've seen. Frankly, I'd keep the 4870 as it's the better card. The only thing you really lose is the DX11 ability.

Keep in mind that there essentially are zero DX11 games out right now anyhow. That will change 6 months from now potentially, but it remains to be seen how many DX11 titles are even in the works right now.

As far as Half Life 2, any of those cards should play it very well. But for more modern games (let alone future) I'd stick with the 4870.

Alright then I'll stick with the 4870 then for now and eventually get an upgrade to a midlevel of whatever at the time. Also there is considering that DX11 games can run on DX 10.1s just missing some features.
