So it's 2018 and atm i have a GTX 960 and an 15 4460 3.2 ghz with 16 GB ddr3 RAM. There is a very good deal on newegg for a GTX 1060 6GB for 300$. Im on a limited budget and cant upgrade CPU yet.
My question is if i were to buy this GTX 1060 and pair it with my I5 4460, will i see much for gains in performance?. I know my CPU is running 100% in some games such as star citizen and i know bottlenecking is going to be game specific. Will the GTX 1060 take some load off the CPU in games such as star citizen? Or would i see little to no difference in performance? I play a lot of open world survival titles.
What i'm trying to determine is if this is even going to be worth it, i have always felt that i should upgrade my CPU first but this 1060 deal is very very good but i'm concerned my CPU is going to
hold the 1060 back and i may have no performance gain at all in certain games.
All i'm looking for is 40-60 FPS while playing games.
