Hello everyone. I've already done a heap of silent searching on this forum while I've been looking into a spec for my latest build. Would be great for any and all to weigh in on the following. But first a bit of background that may help:

1) I live in Australia. It's very hot at times and I have no air conditioning.
2) This will be my 3rd build, but 1st for over 5 years so I'm a little behind on the latest toys
3) I have a 50" 4K TV screen I can connect to
4) I have a 5.1 surround sound I can connect to
5) I hate, and I mean hate slow technology. Having said that I don't want to blast much more than 2500-3000 AUD if I can avoid it.

With that in mind my planned spec so far is as follows:

Corsair Obsidian 450D Mid Tower Case (like the window), or
Nanoxia Deep silence Rev B Anthracite case (no window but has a chimney!)

Corsair Hydro Series H100i GTX 240 MM liquid cooler

Intel core i5 4690K (acceptable overclocking planned)

Western Digital WD Black 4TB 3.5" SATA

Samsung 850 Evo Series 500 Gig SSD

Corsair HX750i 80 Plus Platinum 750W Power Supply

Corsair Vengence CMZ16Gx3M2A 1600C 10 (2x8 GIG) RAM

Asus Z97-Pro WiFi/AC Mobo

GPU - Undecided
Monitor - Undecided

I'm open to opinions on any of the content above but the basics of what I wanted to find out specifically are:

1) Are there any current bottlenecks that anyone can spot

2) Can someone recommend a GPU for ~$500 that will avoid 1) and also deliver excellent gaming performance (main use). I'm looking for a years worth of future proofing to cover some awesome titles on their way

3) Bearing in mind I have a 4K 50" TV screen, can someone suggest a monitor that will suffice for every day gaming while the other half is watching TV. I don't need an epic screen, but I want a good one.

4) I like a quality product, but are there any efficiencies that I can make on the cost without sacrificing performance or quality. I've gone for what I know above, but as I said it's been a few years, Quality changes.

4) Have I missed any parts. Been nearly 5 years since my last build, I might be missing something very very obvious

Thanks everyone. Feel free to ask for any further information, and happy to answer questions

Thanks for the advice CrimsonLuke (and apologies for the delayed response!!) I know this is quite bad self necro but it makes sense.

I've been through a few iterations now, chopping in particular on the HDD and SSD size to make room for better spec elsewhere, particularly in the monitor. I've now settled on the following and would be very grateful if someone could do a quick sanity check for me.

I'm particularly interested in things like overpowered/priced components, like the PSU or Mobo. If I can maintain quality, shave off cost and maintain spec then that's more money I can plow into other bits and bobs that make the difference! Any advice most welcome before I order later tonight!

Corsair Obsidian 450D Mid Tower Case or NZXT H440 (I'm sooooo torn!!)

Corsair Hydro Series H100i GTX 240 MM liquid cooler

Intel core i5 4690K (acceptable overclocking planned)

Western Digital WD Black 2TB 3.5" SATA

Samsung 850 Evo Series 250 Gig SSD

Corsair HX750i 80 Plus Platinum 750W Power Supply

Corsair Vengeance Pro CMY16GX3M2A2133C11 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3

Asus Z97-Pro WiFi/AC Mobo

GPU - ASUS GeForce GTX 970 Strix DirectCU II 4GB

Monitor - LG 24MP77HM-P 24in IPS Widescreen LED Monitor

Mouse pad - Corsair Gaming MM200 Gaming Mouse Mat Extended

Mouse and Keyboard - Undecided - want wireless ideally

Thanks in advance for the comments everyone, feel free to tear apart my spec and suggest alternatives!!
