I bought a 1TB external hdd Toshiba branded as Toshiba Canvio Simple
https://www.sdd.toshiba.com.tw/english/externalhdd/specs.aspx?sid=76
Entered the serial number at this link
https://myapps.taec.toshiba.com/myapps/admin/jsp/webrma/addRequest1NoLogin.jsp
It says:
"Out Of Warranty"
"Serial number determined to be sold to a system manufacturer with a unique system warranty and should be returned through the system manufacturer. If you have any questions you may contact Toshiba at 1-877-689-4899. Exp Date: 2018/09/29"
I was confused so I look at the manufacturing date at the box it says 09/15 so it should have a warranty till 2018 right?

Solution
contact the drive vendor the warranty on some parts start the date it was made. most vendor do make errors and will warranty a product if a sales slip is emailed or mailed to them.
Hi

what country are you in?

In UK unless the manufacturer provides a written waranty which is supplied with the goods you have no legaly enforcable waranty with the manufacturer .

But you have sale of goods act rights against the seller (lasting upto 6 years)

You should complaint to seller if they did not warn you this was a OEM version (without a Toshiba waranty)

There is a similar problem with other OEM parts which are supposed to be supplied with new PC's only with no waranty from manufacturer, best example Microsoft Windows OEM versions

I have a warranty slip when I bought it. According to the store warranty policy hard drive warranty has a duration of one month. So is this really it? only one month no matter what (internal or external)?
I was never told that it was an OEM version
