I have the new computer sitting here Windows 8, both were delivered today. Do I need to install windows 7 before I install windows 8 on it? I've been searching the internet and can't find an answer. Thanks.
Yes, it's legit...spent the $70 so I could have the CD.
I'm not sure what you mean about the COD, I haven't opened
the new computer yet, but I read that the COD for Windows 7 is on the
side panel.
At a guess you have a Win 8 upgrade which will install but ask for the Win 7 licence key as proof of purchase of Win 7. Strange way of going about it! Probably know more if my Win 8 copy arrives tomorrow..
Edit - Just noticed I paid £49/$80 for Upgrade version, so you must have the same. You'll almost certainly need the Win 7 key from your COA sticker to install Win 8... there would have been little point in installing 7 as 8 will clean install...
Bit of a departure from what we're used to, I installed it on a Touch screen Laptop, and found it very good, fairly speeded up a pretty pedestrian dual core system...
If you want to dual boot, it's always been the SOP (standard operating procedure) to install the older OS 1st. If not dual booting, you do not need to install another OS 1st even if the Win8 pack is an upgrade. You will just need the old Win7 lic key in such an instance.
