Bought a new GTX 660 TI, no picture..

Hello, I bought a GTX 660 TI recently.
I placed it into the PCI-Express 2.0 x16 slot and connected two of the PCI-Express cables, what more can I do?

Yes, it's correctly placed..

And I'm running a GA-970A-UD3 motherboard with BIOS version: F4

Do I have to upgrade my bios as the card is pci-express 3.0 slot?
Or what should I do?

All the graphic cards I had earlier worked on this motherboard and now that I switched back, it also works again, but why doesn't the GTX 660 TI work!?
 
I dont get a picture of the screen with the card
My screen (monitor) is not showing any picture with this card, it's just dark from the startup, but the fans of the graphic card works well!
 
The typical things to do next is to plug into friends / other computer and try to replicate results.

What is the rest of the specs? PSU, mainly. Provide manufacturer as well as wattage.
 


Do you have your old GPU lying around to test? Or another computer to put your 660ti into? To rule out components.

Can your PSU handle it?

The PSU I have is a OCZ ModXTtream Pro Series 500W
CPU: AMD FX-4100
RAM: Corsair 1333 mhz 4 GB
If needed..

Motherboard, as I said: GA-970A-UD3 with BIOS version F4.
Even if the card is PCI-Express 3.0, it should work in Slot 2.0..

So what's the problem, does it sometimes happen that the graphic card is broken from the moment you bought it, I mean since they made it..?
 
And I dont know if I said that, but all the previous cards I had work good, aswell my GTX 550 TI that I switched back to, I'm using it now so it's not the motherboard I guess.
 


Sounds like you got a lemon card. Contact the reseller and get it exchanged.

Your PSU is also fine, as it has 36amps available on the 12v and this card only requires 24 and a 450w PSU.


EDIT: Also kracker you have a spelling mistake in your sig. Its bandwidth.
That should help you waste more of their bandwidth 😉

You could put in your old card, boot windows, and make sure the "Windows load" sound is set.
Restart the machine with the new card and see if it even gets that far.

If the machine isn't making it past post, the card is defective or the slot doesn't like it.

If you hear the Windows Startup sound, that could mean that it doesn't like the port you are plugged in to and switching to the other port might help.

In some odd-ball instances, you have to power cycle your monitor once the machine boots window to get a picture. I had a 9800GT that did that until I installed the driver.

 


Well, I have my old car now and the computer works perfect..

But the GTX 660 TI doesn't work properly, it gives no picture on the screen, it's just black.. But the fans of the GTX 660 TI are on, and they work, god.. why's this happening? I'ma send it back, as I believe it's the card..
 
Did you try updating the BIOS on the motherboard first? That may fix the problem. Do that first but if that doesn't work then definitely send it back.
 


It doesn't really sounds to be the problem, but it's worth a try :)
I dont know how to upgrade BIOS on my GA-970A-UD3 can you find me a link? I dont find one for my motherboard..
 
Given the card you have, and the card you are replacing you would not make these mistakes. but
1. Power connectors not connected firmly. No power to card thru one of the two aux power 6-pin inputs.
2. Dual link monitor on a single link DVI-I port.
3. VGA Monitor plugged with previous card's VGA-DVI-I passthru adapter instread of new cards
4. VGA Monitor plugged to DVI-I, instead plugged into DVI-D (dual-link)

most likely though card is jsut bad. The fail rate is higher during first couple hours of operation. And you did all the right anti-static precautions like touching the power supply before inserting teh card.
 


Well, the card is dead, wont help whatever I do.. and yea, the two pci-e cables work because I tested them both with my 550 TI..

We have The Same motherboard and gtx660 ti.
We have The Same problem. But we have nog The second gtx 660 ti to try... But it still doesn't work.
If i reset The motherboard i get à screen on my monitor, but no more than that. Ti's realo's annoying and i don't know what to do anymore.

The thing is that I have a OCZ 500W PSU, and it's not working with it, but at my other computer at my dads house, it works because there is another PSU, I tried a OCZ 700W there as I was gonna buy it from my friend, and you know what? It didnt give any display(Picture) when I inserted the OCZ PSU. Very weird.

So tell me, what PSU do you have? OCZ right? 😛
