Bought a new monitor, doesn't work.

I recently purchased a new monitor for my PC, and it does not work. I tested and it's not my computer, it's only the monitor that does not work. It powers on, but when its plugged in to my computer via VGA, it says that the monitor is not connected to a computer.

It is important to note my older monitor was in a square shape, while my new monitor is a 19.5 inch rectangle. I have tested a slightly larger monitor (also in a rectangular shape) and it displays my PC without problems.

Why is my slightly smaller monitor not working? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Some monitors dont automatically switch to the active input connector and you must do it manually. Make sure you have the proper input selected in the monitors menu.
